Stuck Inside

Since we have been to Utah - It has rained, snowed, and hailed - basically EVERYDAY! It has been a hard adjustment for us since we are used to being outside everyday in warm weather. We have not liked being couped up at all!!!  Monday - it was really cold but didn't rain so we went to a park anyway - I bundled Jax and I up (basically layered all our summer clothes over each other since that is all we brought haha) and we went. Needless to say we were the only ones there. Tuesday the airport was Jaxon's playground when we went to pick up my brother Landon from the airport! It is so great to have him home! He looks so much older! Jaxon already loves Landon so much! But at the airport all Jaxon wanted to do was go up and down the escalator, elevator, and ride on those moving floor things. He also got SO excited every time he saw an airplane and kept yelling "airplane" every time he saw one - which at an airport is like every second - needless to say I was sick of hearing it, but it was super cute anyway! Wednesday we basically stayed inside all day and played with toys - watched animal movies and tried to stay sane. Today - I couldn't take it anymore so we went to Chick-fil-a and played in the play place. I have never taken Jax to a fast food play place before, he obviously loved it. There were a lot of other kids there because I think all the moms had the same idea I did haha - but I love Chick-fil-a. Great food and great service. What more can you ask for!
I hope it warms up soon - I really want to go outside and play!!!
Despite the cold, I LOVE being back in Utah - it is home. I miss our house and friends in Lubbock a lot though - I wish I could pick our house up - move it here and have all our friends move here too! I'm so glad several of our Lubbock friends have moved here to Utah for jobs so we can see them while we are here this summer! :)
Oh - also - Jaxon has LOVED all the attention he is getting from grandparents, aunts, and uncles - and I'm not complaining about all the help! Its been great!!!

Utah

The Plan:
Pack the car Saturday night
Go to bed at 10:00pm
Wake up Sunday Morning at 4:00am
Start the drive to Utah - arrive around 6:00pm.

What actually happened:
Packed the car Saturday night
Went to bed at 12:30 - didn't fall asleep until after 1:15am
Woke up to Jaxon talking and playing in his crib at 3:30am
Decided to just go since we weren't sleeping anyway
Got to Utah at 5:30pm

Pretty close to what we were planning on!
Jax did GREAT! He didn't really sleep at all so I thought he was going to be so cranky - but he seriously did so great, he only cried 2 times and each time it was only for 3 min's max! AND - amazingly enough, he didn't go #2 in his diaper until we got to my parents house. This is VERY strange for Jax because I change a poopy diaper between 3-6 times a day, so to not have anything until we got to Utah was just GREAT! I am so glad he is so good in the car!

After we got home, we took all our stuff inside - changed - and went to Colby and Diane Dimond's going away party! Jaxon was running around like crazy (which can be expected after being in a car for a 14 hour drive) and after awhile he started pulling me and telling me he wanted to go night night - it was so cute!

I am sad to be away from our house and our Lubbock friends - but excited to get to see my family and Utah friends for the summer!

Love you

I am posting this just for me - I don't ever want to forget this.
Tonight when I put Jaxon to bed - I laid him down and said, "goodnight Jax - I love you" and then he said "love you" as I was walking away. Right before I got to the door - he jumped up and mumbled something and I just heard the word kiss, so I asked if he wanted another kiss - he said yes so of coarse I went over and gave him one. Then he laid back down and yelled Love you over and over as I was walking to the door. As I was closing it he said bye. He kept yelling bye even after the door was shut and when I turned on the monitor he was saying love you over and over - so I yelled it back and then he stopped! It was so dang cute. Its the first time he has ever done this before. Usually we say it and then we have to tell him to say it, but tonight it was totally on his own and it was so dang cute.

On another note - Dan took his last final today - his first year is officially over. It has gone by so fast yet so slow. I am so proud of Dan. He has worked so hard, put in so many hours studying and I am truly grateful to him for all he is doing for our family. I have learned a lot about him and I during this experience. I'm so glad its over - only 2 more years to go!

Mother's Day

Mothers Day was great this year. Friday night Dan got home from studying early so I could go to a movie - by myself. LOL. I never thought in a million years would I go to a movie alone, but can I just say - it was kinda nice to get some time away from everything, and Dan and Jaxon had some fun father son bonding time while I was gone and they made brownies for me when I got home. Sunday was great - it was our last week in the Lubbock ward until August and it was a great day - Jaxon actually did pretty well during sacrament meeting, we still stay out in the foyer the entire time, but he was being pretty good, and he loves going to nursery again (he had a couple of weeks where he would throw a fit when he got there) so that made the day so nice. And my sweet primary kids were great! Then when we got home, Dan and Jax gave me my gifts. Then it was NAP TIME for me! Haha - I took a nice long nap and then woke up and we had home made cafe rio salads for dinner - my FAVORITE!!! Dan did everything for Jax, cleaned up dinner, cleaned the house - basically made sure I didn't have to do anything! It was SOOOOO NICE! We were able to talk to both our moms and wish them a happy Mothers Day and let them know we would see them NEXT WEEK! Then after Jax went to bed - Dan gave me a foot massage for almost 2 hours. I have to say that it was probably the best gift he could give me. Dan doesn't really like feet so this meant a lot to me cause I love to have my feet rubbed. It was a great mothers day! My only regret is I didn't take any pictures!!! Ahhh I'm so mad at myself! But I just have to say that I truly am the luckiest mom in the world. Jaxon, although he can be such a handful, is seriously the sweetest, cutest, boy in the entire world and I am so lucky to be his mom. He is FULL of personality. He is so animated when he blabbers/talks, and he still gets so excited over little things like bubbles, peek-a-boo, and he laughs all the time. I don't know what I would do if he wasn't the way he is. He makes my life so exciting and I am so blessed to be his mom!

Almost Two

When Jaxon was a baby - on Saturday mornings when he would wake up, Dan and I would bring him in our bed and cuddle as a family haha - I loved that. As Jax got older - it became less of cuddling time and more of time for him to jump all over and play - but we still do it every Saturday morning (when possible). Well today when we were doing this, Jax was done and ran out of the room after about 5 mins so I called out after him and this was our conversation.

Me: "Jaxon what are you doing?"
Jax: "I don't know"
Me: "You don't know???"
Jax: "I want to eat"

When I got to the kitchen he was sitting on the table with his favorite cereal (Raisin Bran) in his hands. When he was done with his first bowl...

Jax: "I want more"
Me: "say please"
Jax: "Please"
Then I poured him the bowl
Jax: "Thank you" - which actually sounds more like Do-Do but at least he is saying it haha

I know that is nothing amazing, or super cute, I know there are other kids that are almost 2 that are saying and speaking a lot more - but the fact that I had a conversation (a very little one at that) was so exciting for me. We have had other little conversations before - but for some reason today, I'm not sure why - he just felt so grown up to me. He is going to be 2 in a little over a month!!! Where did the time go? I just love this little boy and can't believe he is almost TWO!

The countdown begins

I really don't have time to be posting this - I should be doing other things... but I am just so excited I can't help it!
Dan is taking a final right now, and I'm sure he is ROCKING it! He has another one this Friday and then another one next Tuesday - after that...
THE FIRST YEAR OF LAW SCHOOL IS OVER!!!
It has gone by so fast - yet so slow
Then we pack, get our house ready for the cute family that will be staying here the 3 months we are gone (so Lubbock friends that are not leaving for the summer - you will have a new cute family to get to know!) and then we head back to good old Utah.
Just a day after we arrive, my awesome bro Landon will come home from his mission!
PARTY TIME
Then, my birthday is on the 26th, we go to St. George on the 27th.... I mean can it get any better?
Dan will start his internship with the judge when we get back from St. George. So Jaxon and I get Dan all to ourselves (probably what I am most excited for) for a few much needed weeks before he starts interning.
May is an awesome month for us and we are so excited!
Just counting down the days until "summer" finally begins!

Easter

Easter was great this year. We did most of our Easter celebration on Saturday so Sunday we could focus on Christ. My parents always did that for us and I really liked that we made Sunday about Christ instead of candy, eggs, and bunnies LOL, so Dan and I decided to carry on that tradition.

With that being said, Dan had studying to do on Saturday so instead of waking up and doing our Easter stuff first thing in the morning, we decided to wait until Dan got his stuff done and then spend the rest of the night as a family.

First thing we did was we had a little easter egg hunt for Jaxon in the back yard. We just hid a dozen plastic eggs with a few little things in them and some candy - he had a blast running around the yard and putting them in his blue bucket haha. He would get so excited when he would find another one and he would run so fast to it, pick it up, shake it, and then put it in the bucket! It was so dang cute. I filmed the entire thing so I didn't take pictures which I am so sad about - I totally wasn't even thinking about it - but oh well.

Then we came inside - opened the eggs, he had some candy, and it was time to look for his easter basket. We asked him "where do you like to hide Jaxon?" as a hint... he went to all his favorite hiding spots until he got to the one where his basket was haha - he was so excited when we opened it and he saw all the fun things in there!
He found his basket - don't mind the recess egg in his mouth LOL
He saw the new sippy cup first
Jaxon's Easter Loot
Getting so excited for dad to open his golf clubs
He loved pulling them around
the pro teaching Jax how it's done... I bet you can guess who got hit with the ball! They were aiming right at me! haha!

We opened his easter basket - let him play with some of his toys, and then it was time to dye easter eggs.

Jaxon loved coloring on the eggs with the crayon and then telling us which color to put the egg in to dye it.
The eggs were simple - Jax didn't have patience for doing much more - but I think they turned out great!
Mom and dads baskets!

It was such a fun day! I love my little family!

Sunday was a wonderful day as well, we had a great time at church learning about the Savior and remembering his sacrifice for us. We loved being able to relax, and enjoy each other on Sunday. Jaxon is so cute now and recognizes Jesus in all the pictures at church, so as we are walking down the halls in church he says Jesus every time he sees him - it made it more fun teaching him what Easter is really about when we would show him the pictures and he would recognize Jesus and get excited about him. We are grateful for our Savior and his sacrifice for us, and we are grateful that there is a day dedicated to remembering the resurrection. HAPPY EASTER!

I tried getting a picture of Jaxon in his easter outfit - and these were what I got. He says cheese now every time he sees a camera... so it makes it hard to get a cute smile - but at least I got to capture his funny personality! :) And we did get one family picture on Sunday as well! Yeah!

He loves his golf clubs - he had to play with them before we went to church
