Funny Stories

Story #1
The other day Jaxon and I were down the street from my parents house at Sunrise Elementary playing on the playground. He got off the slide and started acting like he wanted to get in the stroller to go, but then he pushed it and it started flying towards the street - I ran to stop it and Jax ran the other way down this ramp towards the parking lot. Now this was later in the day so most all the teachers had gone home, but there was one car in the parking lot. After I got the stroller I started going after Jax. I noticed there was a man walking towards his car and Jaxon is not too far behind him. I know EXACTLY what Jaxon is thinking so I start running and telling him to stop. As soon as the man opened his car door Jaxon sped up and was running faster than I ever seen him run. The man was oblivious to all of this - or was choosing not too look, but right before he shut his car door Jaxon dives onto the floor by the gas pedals. The man is shocked/surprised and I get to the car right after it happened. I'm of coarse really embarrassed but trying to hold back laughing. The guy luckily wasn't mad and just said, "wow he sure wants to get away from you" to which I replied "no - he just REALLY wants to drive your car". We both had a laugh as I am reaching into this strangers car to retrieve my son. Jaxon said "bye see ya" to the nice stranger and waved as I carried him away. WOW - I don't need to be worried about Jaxon being kidnapped, I need to be worried about him jumping into a kidnappers car.

Story #2
Sunday, June 26th, was my brother Landon's homecoming. Sacrament meeting has always been a challenge for us because Jaxon just doesn't like to hold still or whisper. Now - he loves to be in the chapel so taking him out when he is not behaving is just as hard as trying to keep him calm while in the chapel. Some of the stuff he does during church are... when a prayer is being said, he wants to say it too - so he folds his arms and mumbles and says Amen really loud while the prayer is being said (cause his prayers are short). When we are singing, he likes to lead and sing really loud. When the sacrament is being passed his yells PLEASE every time a tray passes us because he wants to eat the bread and drink the water. This is where we usually have to go out and wait until the sacrament is over before we can go back in. He also likes to interact with EVERYONE around us but doesn't do it quietly. Anyway - back to last Sunday - so my brother was the last speaker and except for the little bit during the sacrament that we had to take him out... he was doing OK - so my brother is finally speaking and he started getting really restless, so I decided I just needed to take him out - so we start walking out and Jaxon YELLS "bye... bye.... LANDON BYE!!!" He was getting so frustrated that Landon wasn't responding that he was yelling REALLY loud LOL. I of coarse turn bright red and see all our friends and families shoulders moving up and down as they are laughing as I make it out the doors. Needless to say we got a LOT of comments about that at our little get together after church. Luckily people thought it was cute cause I was just really embarrassed.

Jaxon is TWO!!!

My sweet baby boy Jaxon turned 2! I can't believe how fast it has gone by. Everyone tells you they grow up fast, and they do! Here are a few things about him right now...
*He loves to be the center of attention and he is always the life of the party
*He can make EVERY animal noise haha and he loves animals
*He loves airplanes and pointing them out in the sky - he gets SOOOO excited
*He loves to go bye bye and loves saying bye, waving, and blowing kisses to anyone that is around when we leave
*He is very polite and says please and thank you to get what he wants haha
*He LOVES "driving" cars. If a car door is open - he will jump in the car and it will be VERY hard to get him out! - (Story about this later)
*He loves babies - and likes to help with them (put binki's in their mouths - rub their heads etc) and gets VERY concerned when they cry.
*He loves/is afraid of dogs. He gets so excited when he sees dogs and wants to pet them - but gets a little scared and sometimes runs away right when he is about to touch them
*He loves to do head, shoulders, knees and toes - if you're happy and you know it - old McDonald - twinkle twinkle - and other fun songs like that.
*He loves his grandma and grandpa's and aunts and uncles so much and follows them when they are around.
*Whenever Jaxon is doing something fun with other people and I come in the room - he tells me "bye... see ya" and waves and blows me kisses because he doesn't want me stopping him or taking him him away haha.
*He loves to be outside! He loves bubbles! He loves going down slides and swinging on swings.
*He loves to wrestle, jump, climb, play swords, anything BOY
*He has the ability to find and grab everything that is sharp and is drawn to them (scissors, knives, pins etc)
There is so much more about this little guy - he has such a big personality and even though he doesn't talk very well right now - he "talks" all the time - he loves to have blabbering conversations and he uses his hands and is very animated when he talks. I love him more than words can express and I can't believe he is 2!
***Jaxon - I still remember the moment you were born and holding you in my arms for the very first time. You didn't cry at all, you just looked up at me with your big beautiful eyes and I was forever changed. My life has been so much better these past 2 years then I ever thought possible. Thank you for bringing so much joy into our lives! Your dad and I love you so much Jax and you are going to be such a great big brother!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

One more gift for Jaxon from Dan and I

After Jaxon was done opening all his gifts from everyone, Dan and I gave him the last gift. Both of our families were gathered around and my sister Whitney helped him open it. She pulled out the shirt and held it up.

So as I'm sure you have figured out by now - our family will be growing!
We are expecting Garner Baby #2!

It was so funny because my sister didn't even look at the shirt - she just held it up for everyone to see, and most people didn't read it at first - my mom finally started reading it out loud and got to "I'm the big....." she gasped and stopped which got everyone else's attention. Then they all caught on - started screaming, laughing,  and they all came and congratulated us.

We are not very far along, about 7ish weeks - but Dan just couldn't wait to tell everyone haha (he never has been good at keeping secrets). I have to admit it's nice that everyone knows because now I don't have to try and hide the fact that I am feeling yucky and SUPER tired. But we are VERY excited and feel very blessed to have the opportunity to have another little boy or girl join our family!

Jaxon's Birthday Party

We decided to celebrate Jaxon's birthday before his actual birthday which is on the 16th since Father's Day is next Sunday and my parents will be out of town. I had planned to get everything decorated and then take pictures of everything before everyone got to the party - but because Dan and I had to get our temple recommends renewed and it took WAY longer than expected, I was behind. Also - my parents neighbor has a helium tank in her garage, so we always just blow up our balloons there. Well I had called her Saturday and left a message about doing balloons there on Sunday afternoon, well I got busy - didn't realize she hadn't called me back, so I thought I would just ask her at church - well she wasn't at church so I started to think I would just have to blow them up and not have helium. Then... after talking to Dan and my sister - we decided to just go over there (because I know the garage code) and just do them. My heart was pounding the entire time and I was so nervous. Not only was it almost 5 and people were going to start showing up, but I still had other things to do to finish the party - AND I was going there without permission. This lady is seriously the nicest lady in the WORLD and I grew up with her daughters and was good friends with them so I knew she wouldn't care... but still - I felt like I was doing something wrong since I didn't have permission. But anyway, so as we are getting close to finishing, we see her car coming down the street - my heart dropped haha - we were caught red handed. She was so cute and told me she didn't care and we laughed about it and then Whitney and I hurried home to put the balloons up and finish decorating. So I didn't get great pictures of the decorations, and I forgot to take pictures of the games, but oh well!
Here is what the invitations looked like that we sent out.
We kept it to family since we did it on Sunday so we had a total of 20 people. It was so much fun!
I had the front door decorated with an Andy's room sign and balloons - and then when you walked inside there were army men parachuting through the air into the party room.

We had some fun toy story things around the house and I tried to keep everything in toy story colors.

We had delicious food - we had Buzz Lightyears UFO Burgers - Slinky's Winner Dogs - Mr. Potato Head's Potato Salad - Bo Peep's Fruit and Berries - Woody's Roundup Salad, and Alien Juice.

I made Jaxon a cake of Andy's bed with the Toy Story characters on it. It was my first time working with fondant and I have to admit it was harder than I thought it was going to be - but I think it turned out ok.

We started off by eating dinner - it was delicious - then we did cake and ice cream and sang Happy Birthday to Jaxon. He loved it when we sang to him. He smiled the entire time and clapped and yelled YEAH when we finished.

I filmed us singing to him and blowing out the candles - so I will have to get the still shots of that from someone else - but he was so excited to play with all the toys from the cake and he loved eating cake and ice cream!

Next we played games - we played "snake in my boot" - we just had a boot and three little plastic snakes and everyone had 3 chances to make the snake in the boot. Funny thing - I was the only one who did it HAHA! We also had a jar of army men and people had to guess how many were in there. The other game was putting the star on sheriff woody -but we didn't end up getting to that lol.
Then it was present time! we all gathered around for Jax to open all his gifts. He had a hard time staying focused because he just wanted to play with the gift he had just opened. It was so funny! He got lots of awesome bubbles - water stuff - toy story toys - transformer fishing set - a learning laptop - money - and his favorite - buzz lightyear. He had so much fun and we are so grateful for everyone who came and for the wonderful gifts they gave Jax and for just being there - it made his birthday so special to have family around!

Telling the Family

We celebrated Jaxon's 2nd birthday on Sunday June 12th and we had immediate family over plus the grandparents. It was such a fun day - so to tell the family we decided we would give it to Jaxon in a present.... so we bought him a shirt that said "I'm the big brother". We gave him that gift last. My sister Whitney was helping him open it and she just pulled it out and held up the shirt - most people didn't really read it, but my mom did - she started reading it out loud and got to "I'm the big....." and then she gasped so that got peoples attention. Then they all looked, read, and started screaming, crying, asking if we were serious lol - and then they all came up and hugged and congratulated us.

It was a fun way to tell everyone - they were all really surprised and we did it after everything with Jax was over so we didn't really take away from him.

I don't know why I was so nervous to tell everyone haha - but after I felt so relieved. Since I am only 7ish weeks along - we are trying to decide weather or not to tell other people now - or maybe we should wait until after I have my first doctors appointment. Dan just wants to tell everyone now - he is soooooo bad at keeping secrets (even worse than me haha) so who knows what will happen. But everyone liked the way we told them and its nice to know that my family knows now and I don't have to try and hide it when I'm feeling sick since we are living with them and that has been the hardest part haha!

Summer in Utah

So far our summer in Utah has been great! It started off with my brother Landon coming home from his mission in Missouri. That day was great! We decorated the yard with yellow balloons and a big sign! Jaxon was so excited at the airport... not because Landon was coming home, but because he got to see so many airplanes haha. He would yell airplane every time he saw one... so that was A LOT!!! But he was so cute when he met Landon for the first time - he hugged him, gave him a high-five and then carried on with what he was doing haha. After we picked him up we went to the Spaghetti Factory and had dinner. It was such a great day and it's been so great to have him home! Here are a few pictures of that.
Sorry for the blurry picture! :( I'm so bummed it didn't turn out!

One of the things I have been so excited to do when we got to Utah was take Jaxon to the Zoo - he has been so into animals lately and he loves making all their noises and watching movies about them - so I couldn't wait to take him. The weather was not good for so long after we got here that I was getting really discouraged, but the day before my birthday was a beautiful day so we took Jax. He loved it! It was so much fun and we had a blast! They also have the Zoorasic park going on right now so they have dinosaurs around the park as well. It was awesome!

The next big event was my 25th birthday! The Sunday before my birthday, the Garners had us over for a b-day dinner. It was delicious and they spoiled me as always. Later that same day my family did "cake" and ice cream for me. I didn't have my camera at the Garners - but here is a picture of that Sunday having dessert.

Thursday - my actual birthday - Dan gave me a manicure and pedicure at Sanctuary Day Spa. I love getting pedicures and I never get them unless its a birthday or something so it was so nice to get to do that. Then we had lunch (me, Dan, and Jaxon) and then my parents were nice enough to watch Jaxon that night so Dan and I could go to dinner and a movie. We went to the cheesecake factory (my FAVORITE) and saw Water For Elephants. I got spoiled and got new shoes, jewelry, yummy food, pampered, and a day off of taking care of Jaxon. It was great!

The next day, Friday, we drove to Cedar City to spend the afternoon with Dan's cousins Steve and Kammie and their two darling son's and say our goodbyes before they move to Scotland for Steve's school. It was so great to see them and we are SO excited for the exciting new adventure they are about to go on! After a fun filled day with them, we drove the rest of the way to Clear Creek - which is a lodge about 10 min's out of Zion's National Park for the Koch family reunion. Most people don't like family reunions, but I LOVE this one! It was such a fun weekend spending time with family and going to Zions! Jaxon LOVED all the attention he was getting from all the cousins and he did some pretty funny stuff while we were there. He was our entertainment most of the time.

Monday - Memorial Day - we hung out in St. George for a while and then drove back. We wanted to get home early enough for Dan to be able to get a good nights rest because he had his first day at his internship the next day.

Since then we have been busy just having fun! Dan is LOVING his internship with the judge and has been able to see/be a part of a lot of really cool things.

We are feeling SO blessed with everything that is happening in our lives and we know the Lord's hand has been in all of it. Everything worked out so perfectly this summer - we always joke that we cashed in and used all of our blessings for this one summer haha, but we are so grateful!

Stay tuned for pictures and details about Jaxon's birthday party that we celebrated yesterday! :)

I could eat.... well EVERYTHING

So far with this pregnancy, I have not been feeling that sick - don't get me wrong, I'm not feeling normal, but it's nothing compared to what I felt with Jaxon. With Jax I had to force myself to eat and I felt nauseous ALL the time (luckily I only threw up a few times). This pregnancy, the nauseous feeling comes and goes and luckily it doesn't stay for very long. Maybe that is why I am so hungry or I notice I'm hungry all the time because I actually feel good enough to eat a lot of the time. It's so weird... I will eat a good sized meal, feel full before I'm done, but then a little bit later I feel STARVING again so I feel like I'm eating all the time. I try to eat healthy things and small things when I am feeling hungry again right after I eat, but its just a weird feeling. Normally I would just ignore the hungry feeling but if I try to ignore it, then I start feeling sick. Haha - isn't it great what pregnancy does to our bodies :)

Keeping the secret

This has been so hard to keep a secret. I was talking on the phone with my friend Andrea on June 1st - she is pregnant and telling me about the results of her ultra sound to make sure the baby was ok (which everything is looking GREAT! Healthy baby!). She asked me if I was pregnant and I didn't know - I hadn't taken a test, but later that night when I did and found out I was - I wanted to tell her sooooo bad (so Andrea - you have to know how hard this has been for me). But we want to tell our parents first! But Andrea is exactly 6 weeks ahead of me. :-) I'm excited we are going to be going through this pregnancy together. I basically want to tell everyone I talk to. I want to tell my family that's why I have been so tired - I'm not just being lazy haha. But I think we are going to tell them when we celebrate Jaxon's birthday. Everyone from both sides of our family will be there - so it will be perfect so they all find out together - and I'm sure we will be able to do it in a cute way at the end of the party so we don't take the spotlight away from Jaxon haha. I would ask for suggestions, but since no one can read this - it would be pointless - but I want suggestions haha.

Our baby right now (6 weeks)

How your baby's growing:

This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil.

Amazing Doctor

My OBGYN is so amazing - that is probably why her practice is TOTALLY full and she is hard to get appointments with. It can be annoying when you need to get in like we do between weeks 10-12 to hear the heart beat and check on the baby and everything, but she is totally booked. Luckily she is going to make sure we are able to get in - she will make time for us, and this is one of the reasons I love her. What am I going to do when I have to get a new doctor in Texas? Ahhhh - I have been dreading this ever since we started talking about having another baby. I think its hard to find a dr that you are really comfortable with and just love - and I am so lucky to have that with Dr. Brown - I don't want to give her up - can she please move to Texas with me so she can deliver my baby there? HAHA.

Dan's reaction

Dan knew that I hadn't started my period, so he had been telling me to take a test. I went to the store and got one but didn't want to take it until the morning because morning pee is better haha. But since I bought a pack with 2 tests in it - I just couldn't wait - so I went downstairs and did it. I didn't tell Dan I was taking it or anything, so when I saw it was positive, my first reaction was to go tell him - but the last time I found out I was pregnant with Jaxon, I was SO shocked (because we weren't trying) I called Dan and told him over the phone to get him to come home because I was freaking out and he was bugged that I did it like that. So I figured this time I would do something cool. Well right after I took the test my mom wanted to go to the mall with me to exchange some shoes that her and my sister gave me for my birthday, so we left - it was SOOOOO hard not to talk to her about it. Then when I got home Dan kept telling me to go take the test and so I told him I did and but that I wasn't going to tell him the results yet (haha - I'm sure that gave it away that I was pregnant) but he said he didn't care if I told him in a cool way - he just wanted me to tell him to his face. So I told him it was positive and he was so excited. He hugged and kissed me and told me how happy he was. I'm glad he had that reaction because I was still shocked haha. It was hard though because we are living with my parents right now and we didn't want them to know yet - so we decided to go on a walk with Jaxon so we could talk about it more. Although we are both so excited, we are also nervous about what a big change this will be, but we know this is the right thing for our family and we couldn't be happier.

GB2 - Garner Baby #2

I'm starting this blog - like my friend Andrea did - to document my pregnancy while we are not sharing the news with anyone yet. This blog is private and will not be available for people to read until we decide to tell people.

So here is the story.

I got my IUD taken out the middle of February - when April rolled around and I still hadn't had a period, the Dr. prescribed me some pills to take to make me start a period. The end of April I had a period, but I didn't have a period all of May and I have been sooooo tired and my breasts have been very very tender - but I haven't been feeling sick at all and I felt really sick with Jaxon so I didn't think I was pregnant. But since I was over a week late - I thought I would take a test, and sure enough - it was positive.

I do have to say that I was a little shocked that it happened so quick. Even though I am very excited - I do also feel kinda bad because I know there are so many women out there who try and are not able to get pregnant, and although I am so grateful, it makes me thing of those who are not able to get pregnant and I truly feel sorrow for them.

I was hoping it would take us a little longer to get pregnant, like around July or August to actually get pregnant because I wanted to be in better shape before it happened. I know I am going to have to work that much harder to lose weight after the baby is born, but obviously this is when we should be pregnant - so I am not going to question it.

I went onto a pregnancy website and according to my last period, I am 5 weeks and 5 days along and our baby will be due about January 26th. I guess that decides what we will be doing for Christmas this year LOL - staying in Texas.

I am still a little in shock - I'm not sure why - we were trying and everything, so I don't know why when the 2 lines showed up I felt shocked, but I did. I am so excited though - I am going to call the doctor tomorrow and set up an appointment to hear the heart beat and everything. I think that will make it all more real and it will make me feel better to know that everything is ok.

Thats all for now! :)

My Boys!

LOVE MY BOYS!
Thanks to my AMAZING cousin Christopher for capturing this precious moment!!!
