4th Dr. Appt - discussion about C-sections

Today I had my 4th doctors appointment. Baby girl garner's heart beat was going strong and she was moving a lot during the appointment. I love this part of pregnancy - I love feeling the baby move and I feel her so much now! This appointment my doctor also discussed with me the fact that she thinks I should have a C-section with this baby. After I had Jaxon I had some "complications" and due to that - my doctor is thinking it would be best if I do a C-section. I don't know why this scares me so bad. I know A LOT of people who have them, and love or don't mind them. Also - it would be great to have a scheduled due date so my mom will know when to come so she can be here when I have the baby to help with Jaxon since Dan will have started school again. All of that would be the plus to having one - but it still scares me. My next couple of appointments we will talk more about it, go over all the options, and make a final decision. Any thoughts about this? Feel free to share!

  1. Ahhh! That's crazy that she started talking to you about delivery. I guess that's good since she knows it's something to think about. If it were me, and I had the same complications you did after Jax, I think I may just go through with the C-section. But, I know once you have a C-section, then that's what you'll keep having for the rest of your pregnancies (but I could be wrong). I hear great things about them too. And I hear that they scar is so tiny now! I just don't want you to go through what you did again...unless that's something you'd be ok with.
Man, this is a lot to think about. You and Dan will have to weigh out the pros and cons and really pray about this. THere are so many benefits about them too. Like the scheduling of the birth (lucky!), and the fact that you are awake so you will get be awake and Dan will be sitting right next to you, also your baby's head will be beautiful and round, and you may even avoid all the labor pains and stuff all together! Haha. I'm not trying to convince you do it, but just get as much info on it as possible. I know the healing process is longer and you can't hold the baby until you're all sewed up. I just don't know that much about them.
This baby is still breech and doesn't seem to want to turn...I know I still have a few months, but who knows what that means come "labor day" if she doesn't.
Let me know what you decide! You have time, so don't stress. :) Either way will be great. (sorry this was so long, haha)

  2. Haha! I have a TON of thoughts about c-sections! Too many to put here I think. I had one with Rylee and it was unexpected. The recovery takes longer, but its really not as scary as it sounds at first. Especially if you have a good anesthesiologist. Mine was fabulous! But, let me know if you want more thoughts- I have loads of them! :)

  4. I've had c-sections with my last 2 babies. Paige was breached and Dallin I elected for one. Elizabeth I had vaginally and had some complications with me and her. With Dallin my doctor gave me the option to try vaginally or do a c-section. I chose a c-section because I didn't want the risk of the complications I had with Elizabeth. I actually prefer a c-section, no pain on your bum. You can actually sit without pain! With a c-section you can have your baby at 39 weeks. Since I don't go into labor on my own, that's 2 weeks sooner than if I delivered vaginally. So, I figured I'd rather have my baby a week earlier than another week of pregnancy because the end is so hard and I'd have 2 weeks of recovery than if I tried vaginally. As far as recovery, the total recovery time is the same, 6 weeks. The worst pain with my c-sections was the air pockets I'd get in my chest, so if you do have a c-section get the medicine that helps with those. If your doctor thinks there's a high chance of c-section if you do try to deliver vaginally, then I'd have a c-section. I here the recovery is awful if you try to deliver and then have a c-section. Call me if you have any questions. 801-815-5426 or 801-571-6366.

  5. I can't believe they are talking about delivery already! Crazy that she will be here soon!! I am sure you know I had C-Sections with both my kids. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. There is a lot of pain, and a longer recovery though. The biggest thing I hated was the anesthetic. May be it is just how I handled it, but by the time my babies were born I was REALLY out of it. So I didn't get to hold them for a few hours until is started wearing off. The other thing that I hate with C-Sections is that you can only have up to 4, is what my doctor told me. The more C-Sections you have the more chances there will be complications. So depending on how big you and Dan want your family could also depend on how you deliver. Something to think about as well! If you have any other questions feel free to call me!! Good luck with everything!

  6. Another thing about the longer recovery...I actually liked it because you can't do much after but that just means you get to cuddle the baby more!! Who doesn't love just sitting around and holding the new baby:)

  7. Sorry, Don't kill me...just one more thing. This might sound bad but please don't take it wrong. With Logan he was a scheduled C-Section and it was super nice picking his due date and what worked with our schedule! We picked a Friday so Dave could be around for a couple of days to help me out!

  9. Tough decisions!! I've never had a c-section, so I'm no real help here. :) I'll just say that I wish you a peaceful decision! And congrats on Jaxon sleeping in his big boy bed...I think Dane is getting ready, but I so love being able to leave him in "baby prison" for a little while after he wakes up from his nap that I'm dragging my feet making the switch! :) And I loved the post about enjoying being pregnant. Hard to remember sometimes when you're in the moment, but you're right--it's such a blessing and gift!

  10. Lisa, Lisa, Lisa, you will be great. All three of my babies have been c-section and it was awesome. I felt I was in better shape than the women who do it the "Real/Natural" way. So you don't get to vacuum for 4 weeks woo hoo, I honestly enjoyed the fact that there was no pain and it was so fast, 30 minutes. And Dan will lay the baby on your chest for a few minutes before she goes and gets cleaned up, within another 30 minutes you are in your room and baby girl will be brought to you. I adore your mom and know she's super woman, but too many people's opinion can scare you. What's best for you and baby is the most important thing. Even if I could deliver vaginally (which I can't Placenta Previa, Breech and 10 lp baby records) I would still opt for my c-sections. And there are plenty of people that do v-backs as well. Lots of love, and just feel peaceful about whatever will happen. xoxoxo Marcy P.S. the pictures look great because you are relaxed and feel nothing. Hair and Makeup look good. HA HA HA
