Goodbye Utah... well... almost

I can't believe the summer is already over. It has just flown by. I remember thinking 3 months was so long to be away from Lubbock and in some ways it really has been, but it has also gone by so fast!

Dan is working his last day at his internship today. It has been such a good experience for him and he really enjoyed it! He has also been playing in a softball league while we have been here and he has his last game tonight. It was such a fun thing for him to get to play once a week with his dad, brothers, and friends. They had so much fun and we loved getting to see them play!

Tomorrow we will be busy packing and getting things ready to go to CABO SAN LUCAS MEXICO! I am so excited for a vacation, but at the same time... very nervous about leaving our little boy for an entire week. I'm not nervous for him - he is in the very best hands with his papa and GG (Dan's parents), uncles Mike, Ryan, and Jake, and aunt Brittany. And our friends Jen and Andrew are going to take him for a little bit of the time too. He is loved and adored by all of these people so I know he will be well taken care of... I am just nervous for me.  How am I going to handle it, how I am going to survive being away from him for that long. But again, I'm very excited for the vacation and I'm sure I will have a great time - we will leave Saturday morning and come back a week later on Saturday night. The next day, Sunday morning we are having family pictures done with my family and then that afternoon we are going to my brother in laws mission farewell and then we drive home because Dan has to be back to the school Monday by 3:00pm. AHHHHHHH! So it looks like we will be driving all night, but we will see. I am starting to get stressed about when I am going to pack and load the car (packing is such a stressful experience for me - it has been ever since I can remember - it takes me way longer than I'm sure it should and I usually cry at least once during the ordeal haha).

We have loved being here in Utah this summer, getting to be here when my brother came home from his mission, getting to go to St. George for the Koch family reunion, getting to go boating and jet skiing with my family, getting to have BBQ's with Dan's family, having date nights with free babysitters, being able to watch Dan's brother Ryan open his call and also be here for his farewell before he leaves for 2 years, taking Jaxon to the zoo for the first time, being able to announce our pregnancy to our families in person, but mostly just being able to spend lots of time with family and friends that we have missed since our move.

It's going to be hard to leave, but it will be good to get back to OUR life in Lubbock and get back to our house, friends, and continue the Law school journey!

2nd Dr. Appt

I had my second doctors appointment on Wednesday August 3rd. I got there and my dr was out of town so they had this sweet older man doing the appointments. I have had a women dr and have always wanted one because... well I just prefer it, so thank goodness this was just a minor appt where they take blood pressure, and listen for the baby's heartbeat. He was so funny and I actually really enjoyed myself until it was time to listen to the heartbeat. He asked me to pull my shirt up, he got the gel stuff and the machine they use to hear the heartbeat and started moving it around. I remember with Jaxon it took them awhile to find the heartbeat, so I was totally expecting it. Well he kept moving it around and around and NOTHING! I just kept telling myself that it was normal and that it takes awhile to find because the baby is still so small, but obviously in the back of my mind I was starting to worry. He was very sweet and just kept telling me that everything was fine, he would find it. After what seemed like FOREVER he said, I'm going to go get the ultrasound machine, I'll be right back. This is when I started to get more nervous, what if something was wrong, why couldn't they find the heartbeat this way? He came back, and used the ultra sound machine... he got the baby up on the screen... phew.... but we didnt' see a heartbeat. I started feeling panic. I looked at the dr to try and read his reaction and he looked worried - this did not help me. He continued to move the wand around trying to get a better view to see the heartbeat, I was almost to tears at this point, there was my precious baby, no heart beating. Finally I saw a little flutter! He positioned the wand better at that spot and sure enough we could see it! It seemed really slow so I was still worried, but he said it looked fine and everything was fine. He then said, "this is why we have these appointments, to make sure the baby is not dead." I'm glad he said that AFTER we knew everything was ok because I probably would have lost it. He took some pictures and made some funny jokes to lighten the mood so I left there feeling good that I saw my baby, everything looks fine, and I got more pictures. I think I will feel much better after the 20 week ultrasound when they check everything!

My Mischievous Little Man

Just so they are documented, I'm going to "jot" down a few things that have happened in the last week.

*While I was trying to get some work done for my dad (I work part time for him) Jaxon dumped an entire box of Rice Krispies on the floor and stared playing around in them. Then while I was cleaning that mess up - he found a black marker (thank goodness it wasn't permanent) and started coloring all over himself, his toys, and thank goodness I saw before he got to the walls.

*He found a bottle of bright pink nail polish and thought it would be fun to throw - he threw it down my parents entry way and it shattered leaving pink polish all over their tile, rug, and front door. I got it off the tile - I'm just buying them a new rug.... but the front door - that has still yet to be taken care of. I have tried a few different things, but nothing has worked yet. I will most likely just re-paint the door for them.

*While he was taking a bath - the water was just barley filling up and I ran downstairs to get his towel and diaper - I came back up and he had grabbed a cup - filled it up several times and dumped the water onto the bathroom floor. I'm almost positive there was more water on the floor than there was in the bathtub!

Since becoming a mom my life has changed in so many ways - I often think to myself now - how did I ever think I was busy before having a 2 year old to chase around haha. I'm sure I will think that again when we add our other baby to the family - how did I ever think I was busy when I only had 1 child! I love my little man more than anything. Even though he can give me headaches and I can get frustrated with all the messes I have to clean up and all the things I don't get done because I'm doing things with him - I wouldn't change anything about him for the world. Yes I may have my meltdowns and at times I may voice my frustrations about having such a rambunctious boy - but I can tell there is something special about him and I feel so blessed to go through these struggles as his mom. He is going to grow up to be such an amazing young man. He will be a leader, and he will do great things! He has such a special spirit. He seems to know when and who need love and attention and he can give it in the most tender and sweet ways. I love you my little mischievous man! Thanks for letting me be your mommy!

Harry Potter

Dan and I got to have a little date day today! My sister was nice enough to watch Jax so Dan and I could go. We met up with some friends for lunch and then went with them to see Harry Potter! It was so nice to have a date with Dan. I am really going to miss having family around to help watch Jax for FREE so Dan and I can get away every once in a while - it has been so nice! The movie was great and when it was over I almost started crying because I can't believe it is over. I grew up reading the books and being so excited to see the movies..... now what? haha. I wonder what it will be when Jaxon and baby 2 are growing up? What series will they grow up with and get excited for? I just need to be the one who comes up with it so I become SUPER rich! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

First Doctor Appointment

Today I had my first doctor appointment. It was so nice to see the baby, listen to the heartbeat, and have the doctor tell me that everything is looking great! I will have to wait a few days to find out if all the labs come back ok... but I think everything will be just fine!
Tomorrow will put me at the 12 week mark, so the first trimester should be close to over - YEAH! And the baby is measuring right on track with January 26th as the due date. I couldn't be more excited! The ONLY problem is... I LOVE my doctor and I want her to deliver my baby, but with me living in Texas that is going to make it really hard. So.... Lubbock friends - anyone know a good FEMALE OBGYN?

Baby in my belly

So any of you who have spent time with Jaxon knows that he is all boy and loves to wrestle. Well its been frustrating lately because I don't want him jumping all over me now that I have this new little baby to protect in my stomach. So Dan and I have been telling him that I have a baby in my belly so he needs to be really soft and careful around mommy. He is really sweet and will wave and tell the baby hi and rub my stomach softly. Well the other day my sister was in the same room as us laying on the couch and Jaxon went over to her - rubbed her belly and said "hi baby". LOL. We all got a kick out of that. I think he now thinks that EVERYONE has a baby in their belly. We are going to need to fix that. :)

Fathers Day and 4th of July

I have been SOOOO bad at taking pictures lately. I got a few pictures of 4th of July activities - so I will post those later, but I thought I should at least document these events.

Fathers Day
Jaxon and I woke up and made Dan his favorite breakfast - french toast! Then, after church we had a "little" snack - BLT'S (another one of Dan's favorites) before we went over to the Garners to celebrate Father's Day with them. My dad was out of town for a wedding, so even though we didn't get to see him, we called and wished him a happy Father's Day and told him how much we love and appreciate him. Then we went to the Garner's and had fun with papa! Jaxon LOVES his grandpa's! He gets so excited when he see's them. I feel so blessed to have such amazing men in Jaxon's life to be examples to him.
My dad is AMAZING. I look up to him so much. I have always been kind of a daddy's girl and I have such a love and respect for my dad.
My other dad (Dan's dad) is also AMAZING! He is one of the hardest working people I have ever met. He has loved and welcomed me into the family and treated me like one of his own children from the first time I met him.
Dan is my amazing husband and wonderful father to our son (and soon to be other child). He works so hard in law school so he can provide a good life for us and we love and appreciate him so much!!!

The 4th of July
We woke up and went over to the neighborhood breakfast that my neighborhood has done, well ever since I can remember! It was a great presentation and delicious breakfast - and of coarse Jaxon had a blast with all the other kids playing on the neighbors swing set. Then we went mini golfing with my family. I was worried Jaxon would just run around and we would be chasing him the entire time - but he actually stayed with us and did REALLY well - the only problem was he wanted to hit all the balls instead of just his haha - but after a few holes we figured out how to keep him entertained after he hit his ball so it all worked out great. After that we got lunch and went home so Jax could take his nap. The rest of the day we played games, had a BBQ, hung out, and then went to the Sandy City firework show. We took Jaxon last year and he LOVED the fireworks - so we figured this year he would love them even more. Well when they started he was so scared and I had to hold him really tight or he would start crying and get more scared. But that only lasted 1 or 2 mins... because he turned around and saw my dad watching them and he asked to go sit with papa so I passed him back and he was fine lol. He was pointing and getting all excited at the fireworks. It was a great day! Pictures to come soon!
